Mate Ma’a Tonga

Mate Ma’a Tonga and its supporters have breathed new life into international rugby league since the Rugby League World Cup 2017.

After the high-profile decisions of Jason Taumalolo and Andrew Fifita to represent the Kingdom at the 2017 World Cup, Mate Ma’a Tonga became the first tier two nation to beat a tier one rival when they stunned the Kiwis 28-22 in Hamilton.

They would eventually face England in the semi-finals of that World Cup in a historic first Test match between the two nations.

Tonga will face the Great Britain Rugby League Lions for the first time on October 26 in Hamilton.
